It has been a rough year in boxing for Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao.
His losses to Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012 took the Filipinos by surprise and left them in shock. Even newspapers and media outlets were not accustomed to reporting the recent defeats of the “People’s Champ”. After 14 decisive victories since 2005 from Velazquez to Mosley, never have they featured the boxing superstar at the losing end of boxing bouts. Pacquiao’s professional boxing record now stands at 54-5-2.
June 9, 2012. In a surprising turn of events in the 12-round bout at the MGM Grand Arena for the WBO Welterweight Championship, Pacquiao lost to Timothy Bradley via split decision. This was Pacman’s first loss in nearly seven years and after 15 consecutive wins.
December 8, 2012. For nearly two minutes, it was unbearable to watch: Manny Pacquiao laying unconscious on the canvas, with a few seconds left before the end of the sixth round, after the KO punch by Juan Manuel Marquez in their fourth encounter. Pacquiao lost to Marquez via TKO, his first KO loss since 1999, and his third career KO defeat.
