Former President and current Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s legal battles and health issues continued in 2012, as the Aquino administration attempts to hold her accountable for major anomalies during her nine-year term.
Last July 25, a Pasay regional trial court allowed CGMA to post a P1-million bail for her 2007 election sabotage case, after an eight-month hospital detention at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center. Her freedom was short-lived, however.
She was served another arrest warrant last October 3, this time for a plunder case tied to the misuse of PCSO intelligence funds. She returned to hosptal arrest at the VMMC, where she had been undergoing treatment for hypoparathyroidism, a rare bone ailment.
