In 2011, a high-profile prisoner was reported to have received VIP treatment behind bars. This time, in 2012, another high-profile prisoner was allegedly kidnapped… from behind bars!
Rolito Go, convicted for a 1991 road rage murder, went missing last August 14. He was fetched by authorities in a bus stop two days later, claiming that he and nephew Clemence Yu were kidnapped for ransom by fake NBI agents and brought to a Batangas farm. He was freed when the kidnappers cannot extract ransom from Go’s kin.
As a result of the incident, Bureau of Corrections Director Gaudencio Pangilinan voluntarily went on an indefinite leave of absence starting August 16, but eventually resigned last December 21.
